Subsystems and Subcontractors
Since Defense and Aerospace systems, products and devices represent a very broad range of technologies, each Markets Forecast market contains a different set of subsystems that we track. In our data files, you will note there are two fields for each subsystem: one to list the subcontractor and one to enter the percentage value of the overall system value that the subsystem represents.
For blended market subsystems, please see the blended market subsystem page.
| System Integrator | Name of the supplier performing the program integration and final assembly activities on the Item. This is typically, but not always, the Primary Supplier. |
|---|---|
| System Integrator Percent | An estimate of the percentage of value that system integration represents as a share of the whole program forecast. |
| Subsystem Name 1-18 | These fields are used to identify which suppliers are providing the subsystems of the Item. Subsystems are unique to the core Market and are designated in the field’s label. In the case of platform markets such as Aircraft, Ships or Vehicles, the mission system electronics suppliers are grouped into a single subsystem field under various suppliers. The details regarding each of these various suppliers can be found in each individual mission electronic market (e.g. EO/IR, Radar, Comm, C2, etc.). Each subsystem is defined later in this appendix. |
| Subsystem Name Percent 1-18 | These fields are used to indicate what portion of the Item’s overall value is represented by the subsystem in the field label. The corresponding subsystems percentage follows the subsystem supplier. The sum of all subsystem percentages will always add to 100%. |
