How to Create a Forecast

Use the Lenses and Filters on the left side of Markets Forecast to select the data to use to create your forecast.

For most users, you can get started by first picking a market. Only markets in your subscription will be visible in the Markets filter pull-down.

There are filters available for many variables in a forecast's Program Data Definitions, but not every variable (variables are also columns in the program data) has a filter.

Changing the segmentation and revenue types

After deciding what data to use to create your forecast, you can then change both the forecast segmentation and revenue types.

The segmentation types correspond to the filters (i.e. Function), End User Country, Supplier, Platform Family, while the revenue types represent the four revenue types covered in Markets Forecast, as well as various combinations of revenue types and production units. For more information on the revenue types in Markets Forecast, please see Revenue Types.

Changing the segment type allows you to view different aspects of the forecast you have created.

For example, if you are in the EO/IR market, and have filtered by Region: Western Europe and Mission: fire control, the default segmentation type (Mission) will only show one wedge in the chart -- fire control programs.

However, if you change the segmentation type to Supplier, you will see the primary suppliers in the fire control segment of the EO/IR market as well as all Stated and Derived Opportunities. Similarly, you can change the Segmentation Type to End User Country to view the top countries in Western Europe for forecasted revenue in the EO/IR fire control market segment.
