      Platform Family

      This field groups the platforms listed in the Platform Specific Field into industry recognized families, ship classes, or sets. Where an application is used aboard more than one platform, Markets Forecast analysts use “multi” to indicate multiple platform types, for example Multi-Aircraft, Multi-Ship, or Multi-Platform.

      Examples include:

      • F/A-18 platform family encompasses all models and series of the F/A-18, to include the EA-18, CF-18, and EF-18.
      • Oliver Hazard Perry FFG includes those ships renamed by the operating country to include the Mubarak (Egypt) and General Pulaski (Poland)
      • HMMWV includes all variants such as, M998, M114, M1145, Avenger, and SLAMRAAM.
